Manchas de sangre en un coche nuevo 1974
The leading man is the owner of a garage. As well as working as a mechanic, Antonio dabbles in the black market. One day, driving home in his flashy car, he witnesses a serious accident. Fearing that they’ll make a mess of his car, he doesn’t stop to help the victims, despite their cries for help, instead deciding to drive away. Suddenly, one of the cars in the accident explodes and catches fire. The protagonist arrives home worried, wondering whether he made the right decision. His waiting wife calms his anxiety, repeating her assurances that he did what he had to do. His lover, however, isn’t of the same opinion: she reproaches him constantly for failing to help the injured people. The man’s life descends into total paranoia as he starts to see drops of blood everywhere he looks.
We could say that this is a critique of society’s wealthy classes, since the couple belongs to the upper classes. Furthermore, using the man’s affair as a prop, it highlights the attitude of ordinary people towards these situations, arguing that they are more likely to help.
