Verano Azul 1979-1980

One of Antonio Mercero’s most significant series. This is a family drama set on the Andalusian coast, with the adventures of a group of youngsters on their summer holiday as the main theme. As well as the young people, a lady artist and a retired fisherman play an important part in the plot. Antonio Mercero created and directed the series.

The series was produced by TVE in the 1980s. Nineteen episodes were broadcast in Spain, where it enjoyed enormous success among the general public. It is considered to be one of the icons of Spanish popular culture and today children and adolescents from that time still remember the adventures of its protagonists. In a single year, it became the favourite series of a whole generation and, although it had no second season, TVE has broadcast it time and again, turning it into a classic.
